Well, that's hilarious! That's the first time I've had a character I drew tromp across a newspaper heading ... The Halifax Chronicle-Herald has asked me to do a Sunday comic strip for them, which started today. Originally they wanted something for the year, but due to the fact that I'm slightly swamped, I asked if they'd be willing to let me do it for 12 weeks instead (I hope I don't end up regretting that ... I hate turning down work). And I could do it about anything, which was pretty cool, so I did what Bill Watterson recommended in a forward for one of his C&H collections that I read about 15 years ago: that a comic strip about a little girl, written and drawn by a woman, would be a good idea. Here's an article about the whole thing, complete with the same dorky picture that ran when they did an article on Zombies Calling (hee).

I thought the comic strip would be running on the newspaper webpage as well, but I can't seem to find it, so I guess it's just in the Sunday paper for the moment. So if you're in the Halifax area, pick up a copy of the Sunday paper and read my newest artistic foray, Jenny's Brothers. (I actually wanted to call it Jenny Has Six Brothers, but apparently that was too long. Sniff!)

Oh, and I just thought the picture of the little old lady in the Canadians jersey going "yay!" was too funny, so I left it in.

That photo just seems really appropriate for the occasion. She is just ready to rock and role with your new strip there.

Awesome! Will you put the strips online once the run is finished?

Also, semi-random: have you heard the Mike Doughty song "27 Jennifers"?

I *think* I can repost them once they've finished their run with the paper... I'll have to get a copy of the contract to find out. But if that's the case, I'll put them up online. :)

Go, Habs, go, uh, I mean, go, Jenny go!

(We can assume that the CH on her jersey is for Calvin and Hobbes instead of Club de Hockey)

That's awesome! I wish I could read it. Now how do we get more newspapers to skip the middle man and go straight to hiring comickers directly to fill up their funny pages? :-D

Congrats on the gig!

And yes, that old lady in the Canadians jersey it funny, and awesome. There should be more old ladies in jerseys going "Yay" in the world.

Mmmm... I wish I were a canadian now, I've scoured the website and can only find the dumb editorial cartoon. Once it's all said and done you should post it up on the interwebz for those of us not privileged enough to live in Canada
